Reikan Karate
Reikan are a family friend club with all lessons open to children, adults and families. Lessons are suitable for all levels of fitness. We 'suggest' a minimum age of five as a guideline. If your child is younger or around the age of five, we suggest you come down and have a look at what we do to gauge suitability. We understand that no two children are the same. We welcome visitors to our classes, just say hello to one of the instructors.
Who are we?
We strongly believe in a family friendly club, somewhere not only the students feel welcome and at ease, but the parents and extended families of our students. We welcome visitors and people are free to stay within the dojo to watch or from the viewing gallery. In our time so far, we like to think that we have established a good bond with our parents, who are all keen and enthusiastic and are known to join in when we have "fun lessons" and create a great social atmosphere afterwards. We encourage parent participation and believe that good communication between instructors, students and family are extremely important.
We have a Child Protection Policy in place and a copy of this can be obtained on request from either Instructor.
Sensei Paul Keates
Sensei Paul trained in Shotokan for a short while before joining the Royal Navy. During this time he tried out Wado Ryu before taking a break from the sport in 1979. Sensei Paul has worked in the security industry for the last 25 years and has never had to use karate in all that time.
